Get Dirty for the Bay. Can you dig it?
Join us for a flash tree planting at the new Gessner Center in Kemah. In just a few hours, volunteers will help establish native trees and shrubs that will shape this site into a living landscape where future generations can learn about conservation and the wonders of the Bay.
As a stewardship volunteer, you will use digging tools to plant native trees and shrubs in pre-dug locations across the site.
You will:
- Expand pre-dug holes to make room for plants
- Work in teams to lift and move plants of varying sizes (~15 lbs)
- Stand and walk for over an hour across uneven terrain
- Work outdoors and potentially encounter wildlife
No experience is needed. All gloves, materials, and supplies will be provided.
This workday takes place at GBF Headquarters in Kemah. Restrooms will be available onsite.
NOTE: Minors ages 16+ are welcome with an approved and registered adult chaperone.
