Bike Around the Bay is a 2-day 192-mile ride around the Bay with hundreds of riders & volunteers. Volunteers like you make it possible.

As an event prep volunteer, you will work with staff and fellow volunteers to help prepare supplies for Bike Around the Bay. 

Tasks can include: 

Sorting and folding event shirtsArranging supplies in event binsAssisting staff as needed with miscellaneous tasks in an office setting

Our Marine Debris Survey Program is a partnership with National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration to help meausre the amount and types of marine debris that wash up on our shoreline.

You will assist staff in conducting this survey by collecting and documenting your findings. Once the survey is complete we will clean up any remanining trash in the area. 

Tasks will include:

Cleaning up trash Helping measure each plot Helping identify objects  Helping unload and load supplies

MINORS
Parents or guardians must register and complete a waiver for minors (under age 18). All minors must be accompanied by a registered parent/guardian or approved chaperone over the age of 18.

Join the Galveston Bay Foundation for a monthly volunteer-led bird survey at Sweetwater Preserve on the first Tuesday of each month.

This private property spans over 140 acres of restored habitat, featuring a mixture of coastal prairie, estuarine marsh, salt flats, freshwater wetlands, brackish wetlands, and coastal woodlots.

All levels of birders are welcome! Bring your own gear.

Volunteers will assist GBF Dedicated Volunteers in bird identification and data recording while on location at a wilderness preserve in a variety of weather conditions ranging from cold overcast weather to warm and sunny.

DATA COLLECTION
Our bird count list will be reported to GBF staff and eBird. The eBird list will be shared with all signed-up participants

As a volunteer for this role, you will help the GBF Staff to clean and put away equipment and supplies after Galveston Bay Foundations's big annual bike ride fundraiser, Bike Around the Bay.

Tasks will include: 

Unloading the box trucksOrganizing all the equipmentCleaning and storing equipmentAssist staff with any other tasks.

All volunteers will receive an official Bike Around the Bay volunteer T-shirt!

Bike Around the Bay is a 2-day, 192-mile ride around the Bay with hundreds of riders & volunteers. Volunteers like you make it possible.

You will help to operate the Finish Line, rotating between stations throughout your shift.

Stations will include, but not be limited to:

Unloading luggage and bikesPreparing snacks and drinks at the main tentHelping with waste management Assisting staff as needed and cheering on cyclists!

All volunteers will receive an official Bike Around the Bay volunteer T-shirt!

Bike Around the Bay is a 2-day, 192-mile ride around the Bay with hundreds of riders & volunteers. Volunteers like you make it possible.

As a volunteer at our Finish Line, you will help to operate stations, rotating between them throughout your shift. Stations will include, but not be limited to:

Unloading and sorting rider luggage,Helping riders park their bikes in the bike lot,Preparing snacks and drinks at the main tent, Assisting staff as needed, and cheering on cyclists!Prepare to move; this is a high-energy day.

Lunch will be provided. All volunteers will receive lunch and an official Bike Around the Bay volunteer T-shirt!

You will help staff set up the start line for Bike Around the Bay at Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX.

Tasks include: 

Set-up of equipment and suppliesCutting up produceSetting up water and GatoradeAssisting with the inflatable arch going up/downHelping manage wasteloading and sorting cyclists luggageHelping cyclists get oriented to the map Cheering the cyclist on 

All volunteers will receive breakfast and an official Bike Around the Bay volunteer T-shirt!

Tasks include: 

Set-up of equipment and suppliesCutting up produceSetting up water and GatoradeAssisting with the infatable arch going up/downCollecting trashloading and sorting cyclist luggageHelping cyclists get oriented to the map Cheering the cyclist on 

MINORS

Volunteers must be 16+ and be accompanied by an approved chaperone or parent/guardian.

NOTES

All volunteers will receive breakfast and an official Bike Around the Bay volunteer T-shirt!No experience is necessary; we will show you what to do!   This activity requires standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting objects weighing around 10 pounds.

Bike Around the Bay is a 2-day, 192-mile ride around the Bay with hundreds of riders & volunteers. Volunteers like you make it possible.

Your help is needed to load supplies for the START/FINISH lines as well as the Breakpoints for both days of the event.

Tasks will include: 

Organgize supplies Loading and carrying items into the trucks Assist GBF staff as neededMoving, bending, and lifting; prepare to be active!

Lunch will be provided. All volunteers will receive an official Bike Around the Bay volunteer T-shirt!

As an event breakdown volunteer, you will help gather up supplies and plants following the conclusion our event.

Refreshments, snacks, and lunch will be provided.

Tasks will include: 

Load native plants to the trailer  Clean up all other supplies Assist staff with any other tasksNo experience is necessary; we will show you what to do!  

MINORS: Volunteers 16+ can volunteer independently with parent consent.

As an event support volunteer for our biannual plant sale, you will be working alongside staff to support event operations.

Refreshments, snacks, and lunch will be provided.

Tasks will include:

Unload native plants from the trailer and set them in designated spots inside Walter Hall Park BBQ Shed Organize native plants by species (GBF staff will help with identification) Label each plantNo experience is necessary; we will show you what to do!

MINORS: Volunteers 16+ can volunteer independently with parent consent.

As an event setup volunteer for this shift, you will be working alongside staff to setup our plant sale in the BBQ shed at Walter Hall Park.

Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Tasks will include: 

Unload native plants from the trailer and set them in designated spots inside the Walter Hall Park BBQ Shed Organize native plant by species (GBF staff will help with identification) No experience is necessary; we will show you what to do!  

MINORS: Volunteers 16+ can volunteer independently with parent consent.
