Get Involved in Dolphin Research
Interested in contributing to dolphin research and marine debris prevention in Galveston Bay?
Dolphins are a common sight in Galveston Bay, but each individual animal has its own story, just like us. Dolphins in the bay can often be identified by the unique markings on its dorsal fin.
By documenting these markings over time, our Galveston Bay Dolphin Research Program (GDRP) tracks individual dolphins to better understand how they move through the bay and how human activity affects them.
Community volunteers play an important role in this work through the Dolphin Research and Outreach Station at Seawolf Park. The observations they capture and the data they collect help researchers piece together the stories behind how dolphins use the bay over time.
