Youth Leadership & Service

Today’s youth leaders are tomorrow’s stewards of the Bay.

For over 35 years, Galveston Bay Foundation has a place where young people looking to lead projects and engage the community can make a lasting impact on the Bay.

When kids become old enough to independently lead projects for a group of fellow scouts or engage with the public at a community event with minimal support, then they are ready to join us for our youth leadership and service programs.

Until then families with children and adolescents are encouraged to participate with their children at our family-friendly community events until they eligible to participate independently. This is a great way to introduce them to conservation volunteering and prepare them to lead on their own.

Award-level Service Projects

We offer a range of projects available to young leaders interested in conservation and the environment.

Review the abbreviated list of available award-level projects and volunteer guidelines before filling out the interest form below.

Teens 4 the Bay

High school students looking to level up their leadership and represent GBF in the community are invited to join our Teens 4 the Bay Program.

Applications open late spring/early summer. Training and orientation takes place at the end of summer. This is an independent volunteering program and parental consent is required to participate.

Whether you are a High school student or will soon be one, we encourage you to you to start volunteering through our community events. Follow our social media and email blasts for when applications open!

Group Service Projects

School and youth groups looking to participate in a one-day, hands-on service learning event can join us through our Students in Action program. Please review the program PDF here before registering with our Education Team.

Youth groups are always welcome to serve the Bay at our annual community events like Trash Bash and Marsh Mania. Visit our Events page and follow our email alerts to stay up to date.
